COMMENT: The New Orleans Lake Forest Plaza Lawsuit, Judge Herbert Cade, and Oblique Things
*reference: http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2009/05/developer_city_reach_agreement.html “. . . By coincidence, a Civil District Court judge in New Orleans ruled . . . Judge Herbert Cade ruled Friday that the partnership had to forward the balance of $2.3 million to the city of New Orleans. . .”
=============================================================================
I do not believe that anything is a “coincidence” when it comes to Judge Herbert Cade’s rulings. And a mere study of the carnage that Cade created (many Cade victims are Hurricane Katrina-exiled) due to his ‘off-the-record’ / ‘in chambers’ former presidings over Family Court cases for which SCORES of pleadings and documents had a habit of disappearing from the case records bears this out.
I also do not think there is a coincidence about DUPLICITOUS Orleans Parish Clerk of Court Dale Atkins allotting’ this case to Cade –I believe to INSURE a better possibility of wheeling & dealing to benefit the powers-that-be. Not only is there a link with Atkins, Cade, and Lake Forest Plaza, so is a link with Atkins, the latest SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY / Gill-Pratt news coverage, and the William Jefferson family –including the disappointing Caroline Gill-Jefferson (a former judge who abruptly resigned and who repeatedly signed illegitimate pleadings for Dale Atkins).
Further, IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME if ‘judge’ Cade played whore to the biggest spender(s) of this Lake Forest Plaza case, and milked whatever pork and perks and $$$ from New Orleans City coffer –and any other deep pocket he could find, especially if he is still gambling. Although Cade did not originally have this case, he had it long enough to do damage for which renown New Orleans’ corruption makes it not a good choice for developers and corporations to launch new businesses. How convenient for Cade if the public thinks this case took so long to move forward / and incurred costly legal expenses because of Nagin or the other litigants!! Also, at one time, Cade was either the president or the “registered agent” for more than 100 New Orleans corporations. Not only has Cade’s actions on the bench manifested partiality and disingenuousness, Cade is among those shrouded judges who causes IRREPARABLE HARM to people who do not have the wherewithal to placate him.
Aside from the critical issue of the Lake Forest Plaza, this case supplies another opportunity for exposing and attacking ingrained political & crony corruption –unfortunately not if exposure would include powerful political people. It is unlikely that any involvement by Atkins in Gill-Pratt and Jefferson family wrongdoings will surface. Nor is it likely that judicial corruption which would uncover other well-connected people involved in New Orleans judicial fraud and corruption such as Sheriff Paul Valteau (who all of a sudden is retiring), attorneys William M. Detweiler and Keith Doley, Jamaican Sunset owner, will come to light. (These are not bald assertions about any of these people, as this website is replete with irrefutable facts, documents, and evidence.) Moreover, because the people being truly harmed by Orleans Parish Civil District Court Corruption are not political cronies, nor hold elite memberships, uncovering this systemic corruption seems less significant since most corrupt participants are cooperatives with quid pro quo dockets. As such, it is unfortunate when citizens’ hopes for quality of life –which encompasses judicial proceedings which are FAIR even if they lose their cases, and stores for buying basic necessities– in East New Orleans become merchandising tools of political greed, as well as catalysts for pitting people against each other.
